Brendan Dawes

Brendan Dawes is a UK-based artist and creator who uses generative systems involving data, machine learning and code to create his work.

He explores the interaction between objects, people, technology, and art with an eclectic mix of analogue and digital materials translated into interactive installations, electronic devices, online experiences, data visualisations and print campaigns.

Dawe’s award-winning art pieces have been featured in many worldwide exhibitions, including the MoMa permanent collection for his artwork Cinema Redux in 2008.

Following his Genesis NFT on KnownOrigin, Dawes released a collection on Nifty Gateway, which sold out in under sixty seconds. Moreover, his work has been auctioned at Sotheby’s Natively Digital: A Curated NFT Sale.

“Data alone is not enough; data needs poetry”. Under this premise, Dawes creates a visual essay on the effect of the COVID pandemic on the traffic of passengers travelling through Barcelona airport between 2019 and 2021. Three data-driven 3D printed sculptures fused with digital projections and a soundscape that reflects the airport environment. Through works like this – interactions with the digital and physical realms – we can better understand the effect of all facets of technology on our world.
