Alba Corral and New Art Foundation

Alba Corral
Alba G. Corral is a Spanish visual artist and creative coder living in Catalunya who has been creating generative art using software and coding for the past decade.

With a background in computer engineering, she explores many fields, such as live performance, video, digital media and installation. She also experiments with abstract narratives and has a sensitivity and taste for colour. Combining generative systems with improvised drawing techniques, her digital language becomes organic, creating mesmerising digital landscapes. Corral is known for her stunning live audio-visual performances, where she integrates real-time coding and drawing in collaboration with musicians.

New Art Foundation
The.NewArt { collection;} is the first collection in Spain to specialise in Art linked to Science and Technology. During the 18 years since the beginning of its activity, it has generated, through more than 80 projects, one of the most relevant collections of Technological Art in Europe.

This project was born to promote artistic creation linked to Science and Technology and encourage communication between scientists, technologists and artists. Strengthening this convergence, the.NewArt { collection;} has supported this creative medium and contributed to disseminating the pedagogical and universal values of Art in the information and knowledge society. The Collection maintains an active local and international lending policy and sponsors and co-curates numerous exhibitions annually to engage in a new form of art collecting.

MERCURI

Three concepts united in a work that giving rise to an audiovisual piece of dreamlike forms and abstract textures: the Roman god; the planet that bears his name; the chemical element used in UHP projector lamps, about to disappear and be replaced by other technologies. An exploration of the beautiful complexity of algorithms that create generative art using open source tools. A piece that explores the contemplation of organic digital aesthetics by speculating with new textures, movements and volumes.
